To generate the same amount of electricity in a thermal power plant, 190,000 tons of oil or 280,000 tons of coal would have to be burned, polluting our air with 700,000 tons of carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas CO2).<\/p>\n<p>The Danube is cleaned of around 2,000 tons of debris and floating objects every year by the rake cleaning system at the turbine inlets.
