The Jochenstein power plant generates 850 million kWh of electricity annually from the energy of the water. For the same amount of electricity, 190,000 tons of crude oil or 280,000 tons of coal would have to be burned in a caloric power plant, whereby our air would be polluted with 700,000 tons of carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas CO2).

By cleaning the rakes at the turbine inlets, the Danube is cleaned of around 2000 tons of refuse and driftwood every year. The screenings are sorted and the recovered recyclables are put to use.

The buildings of the company and also the “Haus am Strom” are heated with waste heat from the turbine and generator cooling.
